Christmas Decor Inspiration
To me, the holiday season is about slowing down to remember why we are celebrating. I know this can be hard to do when, for most of us, it feels like the most chaotic time of year but this season I wanted to reflect on what makes Christmas so special. Of course, the true answer to this is the birth of the Lord, Jesus but I also found myself really fascinated by the ways that generations before us have made this time so meaningful with so little.
I have been reading historical articles on Christmas in my downtime, took a tour of an 1860s Christmas village in Massachusetts, and watched (probably too many) Little Women movies. In this era it was hard for most people to make occasions special without much to spare. But still, I felt the holiday magic and a real focus on slowing down and wanted to bring that to my own home.
With bits of scrap ribbon, pine boughs, dried oranges made into garland, and paper crafts used to decorate as best as possible they made their space special. So, I did just this in my own home and I have loved the cozy, timeless result.
